Counting calories to determine health can be misleading and don’t tell you how filling a food or drink will be. Along with that calories does not tell you the right blend of carbs and proteins or other nutrients present in the food and the minerals and vitamins present in your breakfast cereal, because of this reason it is recommended to investigate your food intake as a whole and not just one aspect like calories.
There is a greater body of evidence that suggests a key to lifelong good health is the term known as a ‘lifestyle medicine’ which includes making simple yet effective changes in diet, exercise, and stress management.
The trick lies in turning that knowledge into results that will help you reach your health goals.

The following tips will help you get an idea of where to start and what choices to make for everlasting health.
Think positive and motivate yourself
Self-motivation is the most important aspect of making healthy choices that lasts longer.
Let’s just admit it, a healthy lifestyle can get boring after some time and requires greater effort and sacrifice that most of us are not willing to make and so getting frustrated and demotivated is normal and common and usually ends up with you putting on weight even more than before and therefore the only thing that can really get you going is yourself and so try making your meals more fun and different, set targets and rewards that will help you more.
Be organized
One of the most important, this way will help you in more than just one aspect of life. Being organized can help you be more consistent and achieve your health goals in steps.
If you are a beginner and you have plenty of ideas but this over information causes you not to take a step because you don’t know where to start from and so, arrange them in the order that will be easier for you to start with.
If you are new to this whole fitness lifestyle you cannot expect yourself to change overnight and hence start by organizing your day, your meal plans, and exercise timings.
Take time in the morning to just think about how will you spend your day and then organize and do it in that way.
Eliminate sugar
We all love sugar, but it does not love us back. Sugar is referred to as ‘empty calories’ and has no nutritional benefits. These sugar beverages loaded with calories give you nothing but added fat and diseases like type 2 diabetes, acne, and others.
Having desserts once a week as a reward is not bad, it is eating every day that can harmful for you. Juices are also loaded with calories, but fruit juices made at home are actually healthy and should be consumed more often but without adding extra sugar to it.
Coconut water is another healthy alternative that can be consumed instead of sugary beverages or juices.
Add more green vegetables and fruits
Fruits and Vegetables are loaded with vitamins and minerals that are great for your skin and overall health. Spinach, cabbage, broccoli, and green peppers are just a few to name that has high nutrition content.
You can consume them in between meals as snacks or salad and also consume them in form of soup to consume them in greater quantity.
Fruits such as oranges are packed with vitamin C and other vitamins that your body requires and promotes weight loss.
Exercise
This cannot be stressed more, exercise is effective in every way and helps you remain healthy and active. A minimum of 30 min of exercise daily is recommended.
Even walking can be a healthy and effective way to add an activity to your daily routine. You can cycle or even dance or go more hardcore by doing cardio or strength training, depending on your own preference.
Yoga is another great way that helps you relax along with burning calories and giving you a more positive perspective.
Improve your sleep
If you have trouble sleeping try doing yoga or meditation before sleeping as it helps you relax your muscles and induce sleep.
There are special yoga poses specially designed to promote sleep that can be incorporated. Improving your sleeping schedule such as having 8 hours of sleep every day is recommended and waking up early and going to bed early is recommended.
Limit your intake of carbs and add more fiber
Carbs in moderation are okay as you need them for energy however eating them in greater quantity can cause obesity.
Potatoes are high in carb and calories and should be replaced by sweet potatoes instead that are healthier and low in calories.
Foods rich in fiber should be consumed as they are fulfilling and extremely effective when it comes to weight loss and other problems such as constipation etc. Adding them more to your diet will increase weight loss and reduce cravings.
